Can anyone organise a MTP Map the Planet meet up?
Yes, you just need to be registered with MTP and fill out the form to create a meetup. Choose a venue where you can host your travel gathering and set the time with a pin to the exact location. It only takes a minute. You can invite your travel friends to join you, as well as any other MTP members in your area.
Why 20 of September?
September 20th marks the beginning of Magellan’s incredible journey, when he set sail towards the unknown in search of new places and discoveries.
As modern travelers, we want to celebrate the spirit of adventure and the joy of discovering new places. We want to embrace the experience of different cultures, meeting new people, and seeing the world from a different perspective.
How can I take part in Map the Planet?
To celebrate Map the Planet (Travel Day), start by making your own travel promise: challenge yourself to visit somewhere new or finally plan that trip you’ve been putting off.
You can also join or create an MTP meetup or MTP experience. Choose whatever works best for you and join the celebrations on September 20th. The important thing is to get out there, explore, and enjoy the journey!
How can I join the MTP meetups?
Check out our list of MTP meetups happening around the world. Find one you’d like to join on September 20th and simply join. If available, you can also be part of the WhatsApp group to get more details and connect with other travellers.
Can you help me organise my meet up?
Yes! Start by setting up your meetup. Once we approve it, it will be visible to the MTP community. We’ll also send you an email with some guidelines and ideas to help you run your event. We can also create a WhatsApp group chat which you would manage as the admin, and use to share updates and details with everyone joining. We can help with any other question you might have.
Who can join the meet ups?
MTP registered users can join meetups listed on our Map the Planet page. You can also invite your travel group, just make sure they register with MTP first.
Can I add more than one travel promise?
You can’t create multiple promise cards, but you can add more than one promise to the same card. So, feel free to include a few travel goals or challenges you’d like to take on.
The most important thing is to make your promises realistic and achievable. Choose something that inspires you, but that you can actually make happen. It could be visiting a new place, planning a trip you’ve been putting off, meeting new people, or trying a new travel experience.
What if I don’t complete my promise?
Don’t worry, you’ll be able to renew your promise before the next Travel Day. But to make sure you complete it, try to plan something we think is achievable.
Can I change my travel promise?
Yes, you can edit your travel promise at any time, before the next 20 of September.
Can it be a group travel promise?
No, the travel promises are personal, but various people can publish a similar travel promise.
