MTP Day – A Celebration of Exploration

There is no official World Traveler Day and yet, the spirit of exploration is one of the most powerful forces shaping our world. At Most Traveled People, we believe this deserves to be recognized, shared, and celebrated. That is why we are introducing MAP THE PLANET project/ initative, a global moment dedicated to the idea of travel, discovery, and curiosity.

We propose September 20 as the date for the Day. It is inspired by the spirit of early explorers, most notably Ferdinand Magellan, whose journey symbolizes something deeply human: the desire to go beyond the horizon, to venture into the unknown, and to discover what lies beyond what we already understand. His expedition was was about courage, curiosity, and the willingness to take risks in the name of discovery the planet and cross the unknown

At its core, Map The Planet project is about that same inner drive — the call to explore. It is about stepping outside of comfort zones, embracing the unfamiliar, and allowing curiosity to lead the way. Travel, in this sense, is not only about destinations, but about perspective, growth, and connection.

We invite travelers around the world to celebrate this day in their own way. It could mean setting off on a journey into the unknown, visiting a place you’ve always dreamed of, or simply trying something new — something you have never experienced before. What matters is the intention: to explore, to discover, and to move forward.

MTP Day is not just about where you go — it is about the mindset you carry with you. A mindset of openness, courage, and wonder.

Let’s celebrate exploration together.
