MTP’s Position on Travel to Russia

August 17, 2022

I’ve recently been asked about MTP’s policy on travel to Russia, as NomadMania has begun policing their members’ travel, and threatening and even expelling their members who choose to travel to Russia.

On March 11, MTP took a strong position against Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. We continue to deplore the violence, the arbitrary expansionism, and the willful ignorance of the sovereignty of nations.

However, in the same statement, MTP clarified “that the vast majority of Russian citizens, especially our Russian traveler friends, are some of the most kind, generous and thoughtful people in the world, and in no way represent Putin and his autocratic actions. MTP's sanctions of Russia are not directed to the Russian people in general, nor towards any individual except Putin.”

This means that travelers from every country are welcome at MTP, including Russians. MTP has community standards of conduct which have nothing to do with nationality, and no one will be censured for being of a certain nationality.

Likewise, MTP’s mission is to encourage travel to every part of the world. Russia comprises a big part of the land area of the world.  No MTP member will be censured for traveling anywhere in the world, including Russia. NO MTP MEMBER WILL BE BLAMED, THREATENED OR EXPELLED FOR TRAVEL TO RUSSIA.

MTP celebrates travel, and TRAVEL REPRESENTS FREEDOM - the freedom to explore the whole world as you like. MTP was created to SERVE ITS MEMBERS, NOT TO POLICE THEM. It was created to STIMULATE TRAVEL, NOT TO BLOCK IT. MTP was created to fulfill my vision of sharing endless travel possibilities, not as a tool to advance a narrow political agenda.
