UN Map is Live!

October 14, 2018

Hello Everyone, and thanks for your support as we continue to tune up the new version of MTP.  We have now reinstated your personal red/green UN Map, which should give most of you a lot more green than your MTP map :-).  To view your UN map, go to My World Map on your personal menu, and toggle to view your UN map.

The UN map turns all parts of a UN Country green worldwide when you visit a single part of that country, whether your visit is to a state, territory, or dependency.  So for example, if you've never been to France, but you happened to visit Tahiti, all worldwide elements of France should turn green.  Cheating? No - just an easier way to collect green on your map.  Most travelers who are starting to get serious about coverage begin counting the world with a UN point of view, and a goal of 193.

There will be a few red spots on everyone's UN map, which indicate locations which are not officially UN countries, and instead have a special status with the UN. These include Taiwan, Cook Islands, Palestinian Territory, Niue, Sahrawi Republic and Kosovo.

Another cool new feature is that we've removed that awkward "Find a Location" search bar which was only available in a couple of spots, and made it into a ubiquitous menu item called "Find".  And we've added the ability to find an MTP member as well as a location.  Just begin typing, and both member names and locations will start to appear.

A number of you miss seeing your overall ranking as soon as you log in, and so we'll be working on that next, as well as sorting through our incomplete and inaccurate Michelin data.

Many people have been blocked from receiving MTP emails by their email providers - particularly those with accounts from Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, BTinternet, and a few others.  This has led to frustration while registering and trying to change passwords.  We've found that this issue is related to our email provider Mailgun, and not to MTP, and we think we have stopped the problem.  In the meantime, if you have been experiencing any issues receiving emails while registering or resetting password, please try again, and contact us right away if you are still not receiving emails. Thanks for your patience.

Changes to the list will be coming before the end of the year, as mentioned.  Thank you to those of you who proactively sent me suggestions; I appreciate everyone's passion for the topic :-)

Talk again soon when there's more to report; once the site features are stabilized a bit, I plan to make this blog more about travel and news about our members.  But until then there's work to do.

Take care and happy travels!!
